Looking at both paintings, I notices that each painting showed different sides of women or females. There is the emotional and sensitive side which is shown in Caravaggio's painting and the cold, determined side that is displayed in Gentileschi's painting. Sometimes some lack in emotional side more than others. Women can be more mentally strong than men can be. Regardless of gender, I do not think it would be easy for anyone to decapitate something or someone to who is not dead yet.
One artist portrayed her as being kind of beefy and big while the other portrayed her as being thin, pretty, and petite. Perhaps each artist had a different opinion on what they considered as attractive when it came to the opposite gender.
On a side note, I did not write anything in the blog for a while because I was unsure about what and how it should be done even though I had read the directions. So, today, I thought I would give it a try.
